CLASSIC AUDIO AND VIDEO EQUIPMENT

TERMS OF SALE

(Buyer is advised to read and understand these terms before making a purchase):

  • All prices listed in the table below are "as is." All sales are final. Buyer should ask any and all questions as to size, color, appearance, and other specifications of an item before purchasing it.

  • Buyer is expected to pay all costs of packing, shipping, and insurance for items not picked up directly from Seller.

  • No sales tax is required in most U.S. states on pre-owned equipment purchased directly from an individual. A tax is required of individuals residing in Canada.  Some duties or tariffs are levied by certain countries.

  • Most items listed in the table are in pristine or near-pristine condition. A few items, however, have defects (original, or from wear or damage), ranging from very minor and purely cosmetic to an unplayable, but repairable, condition on one or both stereo channels. All known significant defects have been noted in the table below. Others may possibly show up in a final test of the equipment prior to shipment. Buyer will, of course, be notified of any such newly appearing defects and will be given the chance to back out of the sale or to accept the item(s) at a discount above and beyond any discounts to which Buyer and Seller have already agreed.

  • Charles B. Pyke, the Seller, uses Parcel Plus, the best professional packing and shipping firm available to Mr. Pyke. Items are extremely well packed, fully insured, and normally shipped via UPS Ground, unless Buyer specifically requests, and agrees to pay for, another carrier or shipping method, such as Next Day Air.

  • The packing materials and methods of handling by Arcadia Mailbox used have proven to be of sufficient quality and strength to prevent nearly all en-route damage. However, it is always possible that any shipped item can become damaged in transit by an accident, rough aircraft landing, or other incident.   It is for this reason that all transported items are insured to their maximum value.

  • Buyer is expected to open and test all items immediately, including all electrical connections.  Any defects developing between the Seller's final test and the Buyer's initial test of an item should be considered as damage in shipment and subject to transportation insurance, which will be taken out on each shipped item in an amount equaling or exceeding the purchase price of said item.  Any insurance claim for damage must be filed very promptly by Buyer.

  • Buyer is expected to use proper judgment in using and working with electrical and electronic equipment.  Buyer is reminded that he/she is purchasing used equipment  (except where and when expressly specified as “new”), and that any electrical wiring is subject to deterioration from the time that said equipment was newly manufactured.  All electrical wiring of a purchased item must be thoroughly inspected for defects or damage, and all items must be connected to AC wall outlets with great caution.  No item should be left plugged in, turned on, and unattended until it has been thoroughly determined that all electrical connections are perfectly safe and not subject to overheating, even when left on for hours at a time.

  • Buyer is reminded that the electrical or electronic parts inside audio or video components are serviceable only by experienced professional technicians.  At no time should any connected equipment be left unattended without responsible adults present if small children or pets have any access to said equipment!

  • All audio wire connections to amplifiers, other electronic equipment, and speakers, must be made with extreme caution, with all electric power turned off, and at zero volume levels.  Once all connections have been securely made and carefully checked, the power of each component should be turned on, with the power amplifier turned on  last.  After the amplifier has warmed up, the volume should be increased very gradually until proper sound at desired sound levels has been achieved.

  • INDEMNIFICATION:  By the purchase of any item listed on this COMPONENTAUDIO web site, Buyer holds Seller, packer, and shipper or carrier harmless for any electric shock, fire, damage to other equipment, physical injury or death, hearing loss (temporary or permanent), or psychological injury to Buyer, other humans, or animals, or for any property damage resulting from improper connection, attended or unattended exposure, or use of any item purchased through this COMPONENTAUDIO web site, or from the improper connection of any cables or wires, including power cord(s), supplied by Seller,  Buyer, or other source for said item.

These Terms of Sale may be downloaded, printed (1 or 2 sheets, 8.5 x 11”), and duplicated without restriction.
